Population census in more languages for foreigners
As the Czech Republic prepares for a nationwide population census, it does not want to exclude foreigners in the country who don’t speak Czech from being able to take part in the census, and so special instructions have been prepared in eight other languages.
The move was taken because this census wants to gather statistics also on those foreigners who live in temporary accommodation here, such as hotels, boarding houses or dormitories. The biggest foreign communities in the Czech Republic are from Ukraine (approx. 124,000) and Vietnam (60,300), so these languages are among the eight languages chosen.
